The story is told from the perspective of an online reality
show created by Rick Jones to foster public acceptance of the Hulk as
a hero and not a monster. The "show" is filmed by robotic flying
cameras that accompany the Agents of the Supreme Military Agency of Super
Humans (S.M.A.S.H.) everywhere they go, resulting in humorous vignettes and
visual gags throughout each episode.
Hulk, She-Hulk, Red Hulk, A-Bomb, and Skaar come
together as the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. to tackle threats that no other
superheroes can face. The Agents of S.M.A.S.H. have their base near the town of
Vista Verde (where Bruce Banner first became Hulk) and often face various
threats with a recurring one being from Hulk's archenemy Leader (who
holds the key to Skaar's origin).
In Season Two, upon their return to Earth following their
fights with the Kree and the Skrull, the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.
are hunted by S.H.I.E.L.D. and the military (who now have Hulkbuster technology)
following the incident caused by the Leader's Agents of C.R.A.S.H. After
proving their innocence, the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. will later have to deal the
Leader traveling back in time to alter history, followed by an invasion led by
the Supreme Intelligence and the Kree Armada in the wake of the incarceration
of Ronan the Accuser.
At the Hulk's Cave Rick
Jones develops some floating cameras to film the Hulk's heroic acts in the
style of a reality show. Annihilus arrived in Vista Verde to gather the siphon
the gamma energy in order to invade Earth. Annihilus unleashes a
mind-controlled Skaar to fight Hulk. Upon obtain the Gamma Cannon, Skaar fires
it into the Negative Zone portal which enables Annihilus and his army to invade
Earth. After the first attempt at the invasion went wrong, Annihilus has Skaar
get away with Red Hulk. During the fight against Annihilus' army, Rick is
exposed to gamma radiation.
Annihilus gets a
mind-control device on Red Hulk and sends him and Skaar to attack the ship that
Hulk, She-Hulk, and A-Bomb used to get into the Negative Zone. After Hulk freed
Red Hulk and Skaar from the mind-control device, Hulk and Red Hulk suspect that
someone from Earth has supplied Annihilus with the mind-control devices. While
the others fight Annihilus' minions, Hulk ends up confronting Annihilus who
crashes Hulk's mini-jet. Hulk then fights against Annihilus until Hulk grabs
Annihilus' Cosmic Control Rod enough for it to rupture and render Annihilus
powerless. Annihilus claims that his hordes will still wipe out Earth until
Hulk bends the Cosmic Control Rod in two. It was later revealed that Leader was
the one who supplied Annihilus with the mind-control technology.
Blastaar causes troubles
in the tunnels and fights the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. until Iron Man arrives to
help. He is defeated by Hulk and She-Hulk where Blastaar escapes back to the
Negative Zone. They then travel to Stark Industries and the Hulkbusters armor
that is modeled to take on the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. in case they got out of
control. Leader hijacks the Hulkbusters to attack the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.
Iron
Man comes to their aid and helps to fight the Hulkbusters. Iron Man uses his
holograms to fool the Hulkbusters into thinking that they destroyed them. Iron
Man showed them footage on the Stealth-Bot infecting a virus in the Hulkbusters
armor so that they can be controlled from the outside. Using parts from the
defeated Hulkbusters, the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. use them to take on the
remaining Hulkbusters. The Hulkbusters then activate magnetizing beams to
combine all of them into one giant Hulkbuster as it captures Iron Man and flies
off. The Agents of S.M.A.S.H. pursue the giant Hulkbuster where Iron Man states
that his Arc Reactor is being used to power the giant Hulkbuster and use it as
a bomb where Iron Man and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. will be blamed for the
city's destruction. After freeing Iron Man, Hulk redirects the defeated
Hulkbuster into the river. Iron Man states that he will dismantle the
Hulkbusters, but Hulk insists that he keep one Hulkbuster in case he gets out of
control.
Hulk and the Agents of
S.M.A.S.H. still in New York attend a card game at the Baxter Building held by
the Thing. The Hulk also invites Spider-Man to help improve his image as well
on Rick's web show, due to J Jonah Jameson considering him a menace. The
Collector arrives on Earth where he starts collecting Earth's heroes consisting
of the Avengers, the Fantastic Four, Howard the Duck, Wolverine, and the Agents
of S.M.A.S.H. This continued until Hulk and Spider-Man are left. They trace the
probes responsible for the abductions to an orbiting spaceship where they find
the superheroes in stasis bubbles.
Collector arrives and introduces himself to
them where he states that he has been researching Earth's heroes where he
deemed Spider-Man and Hulk unworthy to be in his collection due to them being
menaces. Collector ejects them into the garbage chute where they managed to
escape. As Collector goes into phase two of his plans, Hulk frees his team to
help fight Collector. Collector then sends his probes to catch the escaped
heroes so that Collector can work on his plan to "make his collection
priceless." The Agents of S.M.A.S.H. figures out that Collector plans to
"make his collection priceless" by blowing up the Earth. Red Hulk and
A-Bomb work to disarm Collector's bomb while Hulk and Spider-Man confront
Collector who still considers Hulk and Spider-Man unworthy.
Collector grows in
size where he grabs Hulk and Spider-Man in his hands. Hulk talks about
Spider-Man's "true hero self" as Collector drops Hulk. Collector is
surprised that Spider-Man is a teenager which Peter Parker's face was pixelated
as Hulk knocks Spider-Man out of Collector's hands. After She-Hulk and Skaar
teleport the other heroes off the ship, Collector is still on his ship as his
ship explodes from the bomb which Red Hulk and A-Bomb failed to disarm and
unknowingly trapped. Collector manages to get off the ship before it explodes
as he gives a holographic message to the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. that he will
return one day and collect them first before he collects the rest of Earth's
heroes.
Ego the Living Planet
arrives near Earth causing Hulk and the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. to investigate.
After an attack on Ego rom their spaceship, S.M.A.S.H. are surprised that
Planet has sentience as their ship gets caught in his gravity and causes it to
crash. Ego reveals that he has absorbed planets to grow in size. Hulk and the
team then start to pummel the living planet. Red Hulk suggest that they go into
Ego's body to take out his brain as they fall into living planet's mouth.
S.M.A.S.H. then work to break their way through Ego's teeth as Red Hulk blasts
a hole through one of living planet's teeth and gets out. After getting out of
Ego's mouth, the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. fight their way past the appearance of
acid-spewing zits as they make it to Ego's nose as Red Hulk is sucked into
Ego's nose. Red Hulk's approach towards Earth causes gravity quakes on Earth.
When Red Hulk fires in Ego's nose, it ends up sneezing out Red Hulk as Hulk is
knocked off of Ego. Ego states to the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. that Earth will soon
be extinguished by him. With help from a shuttle piloted by S.H.I.E.L.D.
astronauts, Hulk gets back on Ego as the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. free Red Hulk
from Ego's mucus. Hulk then has his team mates rip out Ego the Living Planet's
nose hairs causing him to sneeze. This time, the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. grab on
to one of Ego the Living Planet's nose hairs as they proceed to Ego the Living
Planet's brain. After Hulk landed an attack on Ego's brain, the Agents of
S.M.A.S.H. find Ego's ego section as he tries to get Red Hulk to rule with him.
Red Hulk doesn't fall for it as Hulk tells Ego that he can either leaves their
galaxy or they can "slam dunk him into the sun." Ego submits and
leaves the galaxy.
When the Agents of
S.M.A.S.H. arrive in the Savage Land, Sauron leads an army of laser-mounted
Pteranodons in an attack upon their jump jet. During the fight, Sauron drains
the energy from one of the Pteranodons where he manages to knock A-Bomb off the
jump jet. Saruon states that he and his dinosaurs survived extinction and that
man's time on Earth will be at its end. While Sauron controls Devil Dinosaur
into attacking A-Bomb and Red Hulk, She-Hulk and Skaar find Sauron's lizardmen
allies using a special drill in the super volcano. Sauron is alerted about the
situation at the super volcano and commands Devil Dinosaur into finishing the
job. pon being freed from Sauron's mind-control, Devil Dinosaur regurgitated
A-Bomb as Devil Dinosaur becomes friends with A-Bomb. Devil Dinosaur helps to
fight Sauron's forces and destroy the drill.
Sauron engages Skaar in battle as
he tries to mind control him, and drains the energies of him and She-Hulk.
Hulk, Red Hulk, A-Bomb, and Devil Dinosaur arrive; Hulk fights Sauron while the
others work to stop the drill. Sauron then tries to drain Hulk's energy which
doesn't work. After the drill was destroyed, a weakened Sauron flees from the
Pteranodons. Devil Dinosaur is brought back with the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. as
their "pet."
