Plot

While looking for a way back to Earth, the Hulks discover the Leader stowed away on board the ship. Retribution must wait as the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. have to fight Ronan the Accuser and his Kree soldiers to save an old foe: Ego the Living Planet. But when Galactus comes to consume Ego the Living Planet, the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. must put themselves at risk to save the lives of their two enemies. The Agents of S.M.A.S.H. must work together with Ego the Living Planet to fight with Galactus and his latest herald Firelord.

The Hulks must face each of their greatest fears in order to stop the Null from crossing through a worm hole to reap ruin upon Earth. Upon being lured to an unnamed planet, the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. team up with their old friends the Guardians of the Galaxy to stop Super-Skrull and the Skrulls from using the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.'s gamma energy to create gamma-powered Skrulls in their latest plot to invade Earth. After Leader tricks Skaar into entering a temporal displacement wormhole to Earth, the Hulks return to Earth a thousand years in the future only to discover that the High Evolutionary has turned all humans into Animal Men. The Earth got that way when a gamma meteor struck Earth a few months after the Hulks had left it. The High Evolutionary evolves Hulk to serve him and devolves A-Bomb, Red Hulk, and She-Hulk too. Skaar is unaffected and steps up to save the team and all of mankind.

When A-Bomb brings an alien called a Druff aboard the ship, he puts the team at risk when it starts taking over, jeopardizing the team's only shot at getting back to Earth at the time when Ronan the Accuser targets the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. The Agents of S.M.A.S.H. returns to Earth with Leader still in their possession even though they were blamed for the destruction of Vista Verde following the incident by Leader's Agents of C.R.A.S.H. They find Vista Verde under the rule of Abomination (who was pardoned and reinstated into the U.S. Army) upon learning this from Mayor Stan and finding Hulkbusters that are under his command. Now the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. must liberate Vista Verde and defeat Abomination before he can use one of Thunderbolt Ross' old weapons in his plan to attack other nations.

While being pursued by the military, the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. go after Leader when he steals all the confiscated weapons from their vault. When Devil Dinosaur is enlarged and let loose by Leader, the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. team up with Spider-Man to stop Devil Dinosaur and restore him to normal size while having to deal with Abomination and the Hulkbusters.

On Halloween, the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. have to work with Nick Fury's Howling Commandos to prevent Dormammu from breaking into our dimension and turning all of humanity into Mindless Ones. A-Bomb starts to doubt his strength as an Agent of S.M.A.S.H. and must learn to use his other attributes against the incredibly strong Xenmu the Titan, an intergalactic fighting champion, for the fate of Earth.

When the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. are framed by Abomination for attacking the S.H.I.E.L.D. Tri-Carrier, they must face evil gamma-powered doppelgangers of themselves in order to save Nick Fury. After the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. prevented the Tri-Carrier from crashing into the Cheyenne Mountain nuclear bunker and are apprehended by the Hulkbusters, they are locked up by Abomination in the supervillain prison where many of their enemies now reside.

Upon S.H.I.E.L.D. exonerating them from the frame-up in Vista Verde caused by the Agents of C.R.A.S.H., the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. track the Leader to his hideout on the Isle of Lucee. They get stuck in a deadly maze (which Leader improved on Thunderbolt Ross' plans in his earlier fight with Hulk) where Hulk's rage is drained from him, making him mellowed out. After the rest of his teammates are captured, Hulk finds them in Leader's clutches at the center of the maze where Leader uses his machine to manifest Hulk's dark side in the physical form of Dark Hulk.

Hulk reluctantly fills in as Mayor of Vista Verde while Mayor Stan is on vacation. Red and Skaar leave the team to start their own webcast as super villain bounty hunters - their first target: Abomination. But things get complicated when the Red Ghost and his Super-Apes (consisting of Mikhlo the Gorilla, Igor the Baboon and Peotr the Orangutan) are after Abomination as well as part of a plot to siphon Abomination's gamma energy and make an army of Abomin-Apes.

While saving Earth from a potentially catastrophic meteorite, the Hulks come face to face with a future version of Hulk called Maestro who might not be the hero they think he is. The Agents of S.M.A.S.H. travel to ancient Greece and team up with Hercules to stop Pluto from turning everyone on Earth to stone after he had stolen the Shield of Minerva.

With help from Betty Ross, Hulk allows himself to be turned back into Bruce Banner. Bruce Banner then struggles with the decision when Ronan the Accuser launches a Kree attack on Earth. The Agents of S.M.A.S.H. attempt to help Iron Man subdue his gaming A.I. creation Mainframe in a gladiatorial roller derby game for the fate of the planet, but are faced with a challenge when they discover only She-Hulk knows how to skate.

Leader has escaped from the S.H.I.E.L.D. Tri-Carrier and has broken into the Latverian Embassy to steal one of the time belts to go back in time. Hulk chases Leader back to the Mesozoic and Hulk battles Leader and his mind-controlled dinosaurs while befriending a young Devil Dinosaur. Back in the present, the rest of the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. experience a timeline where intelligent dinosaurs exist and they work with El Diablo (an intelligent version of Devil Dinosaur) and Spider-Raptor to save Moon-Boy and the primitive humans from being exterminated by King Sauron's forces.

Hulk follows Leader back in time to the Viking Age and teams up with young Thor and Loki to keep Leader from taking the throne from Odin during his Odinsleep. In the present, the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. fight to stop "All Father" Leader from taking over the planet with Thor and Loki in his services as well as an army of gamma-powered Frost Giants.

Hulk follows Leader back in time to the Victorian era and unites the Howling Commandos against Dracula who wants to shroud the Earth with Leader's gamma cloud allowing vampires to prey night and day. In the present, the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. deal with a Vampire Hulk. Chasing Leader through time to World War II, Hulk teams up with Captain America to stop Red Skull. In the present, the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. fight to free the world from Hydra.

Finally catching up to the Leader in the present, Hulk reunites with the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. However, he's unexpectedly whisked into the future by teenage Smashers who battle the Leader's threats. While escorting Abomination to stand trial for his crimes, Rick Jones mentions that there was a legend of a Spirit of Vengeance that resides in Death Valley. Ghost Rider crashes the Agents of S.M.A.S.H.'s prison transport in Death Valley to target Abomination. Ghost Rider uses his penance stare on Abomination which burns the gamma out of him and regresses him back to Emil Blonsky.

Then he targets Red Hulk for Thunderbolt Ross' roll in the creation of Hulk which leads to Ghost Rider dragging Red Hulk to a bad place on a military train that he took control of with the the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. in pursuit. When Red Hulk finally repents the fact that he should've had a failsafe placed on the gamma bomb that created the Hulk, Ghost Rider spares Red Hulk as they get close to a creature that would've disposed of Red Hulk. The Agents of S.M.A.S.H. and Ghost Rider evaded the creature and made it back to Death Valley. When A-Bomb invites Ghost Rider back to Vista Verde with them, Ghost Rider states that there is still some evil in the world. Ghost Rider then summons his motorcycle and rides off.

Hulk is torn between his two teams - the Agents of S.M.A.S.H. and the Avengers - as both team up to save Earth from a Kree armada led by the Supreme Intelligence.
